Homemade Korean Strawberry Milk
My younger sister went to college in Korea and one of the things she always talked about was how great the cafes were there. She sent us pictures of all the sweet drinks, cakes and pastries. The presentation was always beautiful! In Korea, the cafe culturegigantic. There's even a name for it! "Hu-sik" is a term used for desserts, snacks (or drinks in this case) that you have after dinner. It usually means going out for coffee and meeting up with friends. Coffee and tea are both popular, but flavored milk is a unique offering at Korean cafes. It's so delicious, you'll love it!
Some of the most popular flavors of dairy drinks you will see are banana, melon and strawberry. Don't knock until you've tried! To start your new obsession, today's recipe is for delicious strawberry milk. It's super creamy, refreshing and filled with juicy strawberry chunks. The fresh strawberry flavor is out of this world! Plus, it's more than easy to make. You have to try it with all your favorite fruits.
ingredients needed
That's all I used to make this Korean Strawberry Milk! I wanted my drink to be creamy, yet refreshing and filled with fruity flavor. Feel free to customize yours to taste! If you are looking for exact measurements, they can all be found in the recipe card below.
- strawberries: The star of the show! You want these to be peeled and chopped. Some of them are made into a puree while others are left in chunks to add a delicious texture to the drink.
- granulated sugar: To make the drink nice and sweet. You can also use plain syrup, maple syrup, honey, or agave. If you want to reduce your sugar consumption, you can also use stevia or monk fruit sweeteners.
- lemon juice: Just a squirt to brighten the overall flavor of Korean Strawberry Milk.
- Vanilla extract: Gives the drink a warm, sweet taste. I recommend using itpurer Vanilla extractormake your own mixfor best results.
- Milch: I used 2% milk, but this recipe is super easy to make dairy-free. Feel free to use your favorite nut milk here! Check out my tips section below for more ideas.
- Additional chopped strawberries: (Optional) for garnish if desired. After all, presentation is a big part of making Korean-inspired drinks!
How to make Korean Strawberry Milk
It is so easy! We basically make a strawberry puree and then combine it with the rest of the ingredients to create the creamiest and tastiest drink ever!
- Put the ingredients in the pot:Combine strawberries, sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla in a medium saucepan.
- Cooking and stirring:Cook the strawberry mixture over medium heat for about 15-20 minutes. Stir frequently until the berries release their juice and the sauce begins to thicken.
- Cool:Remove from the heat and let the strawberry jam cool on the counter or in the fridge. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.
- Add to the glass:For the strawberry milk, pour ¼ cup of strawberry sauce into a tall glass. I like to smear the sauce around the inside of the jar to make it pretty! Add additional diced strawberries at this point if you like.
- Fill milk:Pour milk into the glass, stirring to incorporate the sauce into the milk, and enjoy!

Tips and Variations
Korean Strawberry Milk is so easy to customize. You can easily make it vegan and change the flavors to personal preference too! No matter how you prepare it, I know you'll love this refreshing Korean drink as much as I do!
- Dairy-free milk alternatives:Korean Strawberry Milk is so easy to make vegan! My favorite milk is light coconut milk because it adds a refreshing coconut flavor. (pink drink, anyone?) Full-fat coconut milk doesn't mix that well, but it's very creamy! Just know that most non-dairy milk alternatives are more watery, so the outcome of your drink will be different. You'll have to try different types of milk to see what your favorite is! Try: almond milk (unsweetened or vanilla), soy milk (great for creaminess!), cashew milk, or almond milk, hafermilch, or rice milk!
- Add other flavors:Hybrid drinks are very popular in Korea. A popular combination is strawberry milk that has been layered withMatcha green tea. Not only is it beautiful with the green and pink colors, but it also tastes amazing! It's earthy, creamy and sweet!
- The Best Straws to Use:In Korea, these types of drinks are served with large straws, similar to bubble tea. This way, you get delicious strawberry chunks in every sip!
- toppings:Try adding tapioca pearls to make strawberry boba, or pop pearls for an extra kick of succulent flavor! You can usually find these online or at your local Asian market. A scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream is also great if you want something sweet!

store leftovers
Korean strawberry milk is best served fresh, but you can store it in an airtight bottle or jar in the fridge for a few days after making it.
- In the refrigerator:Store in an airtight bottle or jar for up to 3 days. The ingredients may settle, so stir before serving.
